Across Okinawa, a growing initiative is bringing smiles—and warm meals—to children through the Mirai Ticket program. For just ¥328 (tax excluded), customers can purchase a ticket that gifts a taco rice or omelet rice meal to a child in need.
Available at most stores throughout the prefecture, including remote islands, the Mirai Ticket is more than just a meal—it’s a message of hope. Shoppers write encouraging notes on the tickets and post them on the taco rice booth’s board. Children under 12 can then redeem these tickets at the register, receiving a free meal along with a heartfelt message. In return, many kids leave thank-you notes on the board, creating a beautiful cycle of kindness.
Each store sets aside an average of 10 meals for this program. The founder hopes to expand the initiative across Okinawa, saying, “We want to build a society where no child goes hungry.”
